This six day bow hunt starts in early September and runs through until mid October. It is a classic spot and stalk Mule Deer hunt giving bow hunters a great opportunity to harvest a Pope and Young trophy up to a 160” plus buck. The bucks are found in bachelor herds throughout the hunting area allowing the hunter to sneak in for a close shot or try and ambush the bucks as they travel to and from their feeding areas. The majority of the terrain for this hunt consists of rolling grassy coulees with dense patches of willows and buck brush scattered throughout providing excellent bedding areas for the Mule Deer. Hunting is also done along Willow Creek where numerous deer live as they can easily access the irrigated croplands that lie above the high banks of the creek bottom. White-tail Deer may be added as a combination to this hunt, there is many small herds of White-tails throughout the hunting area (contact us for availability and pricing).

We offer this hunt during the first two weeks of October when the bucks are still in their bachelor herds in the summer ranges. A wall tent camp complete with all amenities is home for these hunts. We access our favourite big buck locations by day hiking or by horseback. If you are up for a more challenging hunt you can choose to travel strictly by foot on a classic backpack hunt. Happy Valley Outfitters takes 5 Elk hunters each season. Our Elk hunts are 6-days and can be taken in either archery or rifle seasons. All Elk hunts take place in the rolling timbered foothills and open grasslands of Southern Alberta. Ranchers have developed the open areas for grazing cattle which in turn has given the Elk lush grasses and hay fields to feed on year round. In this area a legal bull elk must have three points to become legal; this allows us to harvest both 5 and 6 point mature bulls.
The bow hunts are during the last weeks of September when the bulls are in full rut and found in scattered herds. It is a very exciting and action packed hunt where the guides call in these highly vocal animals to within bow range using a combination of cow calls, bull calls and pop up cow decoys. A Mule Deer tag or Black Bear tag may be added to this hunt, contact us for availability and pricing.
The rifle Elk hunts are during the last week of October. At this time the Elk are still found in small herds with numerous bulls staying close to the cows as some are still in full heat. Hunting is primarily done using spot and stalk methods as well the herds can be ambushed between their bedding and feeding areas.
Spring Black Bear Hunt:
The hunt takes place in the forestry region of the foothills; hunting is done with trucks, four-wheelers or horses depending on weather conditions. It is a 6-day spot stalk, archery or rifle
hunt during the first 2 weeks of May. There are a high percentage of color phase bears here and a hunter has a good opportunity to harvest a 6 foot plus bear.
Cougar Hunt
This foothills area has a great reputation for B&C cougars and is in a limited quota area for all residents. Hunts are 10-days using trucks, four-wheelers and snowmobiles and take place from December to February. Well proven hounds and guides will provide and exciting hunt for rifle and archery hunters.
Winter Coyote Hunt
These four day hunts are operated from December thru to the end of February, and are a great winter hunt! The open terrain and the high numbers of these wary predators in Southern Alberta give hunters an exciting hunting opportunity. We use numerous calling methods to lure the coyotes in for a close shot or we test out our optics for a long range shooting opportunity.
